FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 27, 2026

PEORIA, IL – Peoria Ballet is thrilled to present Swan Lake at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with performances at 2pm and 7:30pm. This special production will feature the iconic music performed live by the Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

Widely considered classical ballet’s greatest masterpiece, Swan Lake tells the story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a princess transformed into a white swan. Known for its powerful music, beautiful costumes and challenging choreography – including the famous “Dance of the Little Swans” – Swan Lake has captivated audiences for generations.

Ian Thatcher, Artistic Director of Peoria Ballet, states, “Collaborating with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra elevates this performance and creates a truly immersive experience for the dancers and audiences.”

“The connection between movement and music is centuries old. We are honored and excited to tell the story of Swan Lake in music and movement with Peoria Ballet,” said George Stelluto, Music Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

“The arts play a critical role in the cultural and economic vitality of our region”, said Wendy Thomasson, Executive Director of Peoria Ballet. “As Peoria Ballet celebrates its 60th Anniversary Season, this production represents the type of meaningful partnership that has helped sustain the arts in Greater Peoria for many decades.”

Tickets start at $32, with $20 student tickets available, making the show accessible for families, young audiences and anyone experiencing ballet for the first time. The run time is under 2 hours, including one intermission.
